Second day started very early in Dunkin Donuts. Actually the feeling that City never sleeps you get in the morning. You may wake up at 7 a.m., 6 a.m., or even at 5 a.m.-the feeling would be the same. The would be a lot of people on the streets, a lot of cars, a lot of open cafes (Sturbacks and Dunkin Donuts open at 6 as many others).
Today we planned to make a Rockfeller Center tour and Top of the Rock. As the Tour started at 11 a.m. we had some time to wonder around in Manhattan and took some pictures.
On our way to the tour we saw Magnolia Bakery. The famous one from the Sex and the City. And we thought: 'Why not?'
And we must admit we didn't regret doing it:)
So for those who still want to find out what is the Rockfeller Center Tour here some fotos. These fotos are taken during the tour, so if you will ever do it, remember that it is an outdoor and indoor walking tour that will lead you throughtout the famous streets, building and landmarks that make up this 'city within a city'. The other thing that we liked that every guest follow a guide and listen through his own personal headset which is very convenient but you risk to be lost in the crowd on the streets because of the illusion that you are close to your group as well as you heфr so well. Actually I got lost couple of times:)
Rockefeller Center Tour is definitely worht to be taken. I have knew so many interesting things about John D. Rockefeller, Jn. who is 'the father' of the Center, about his wife that encoraged her husband to invest money in art and culture. Before the Tour I thought that Rockefeller Center is a building or couple of buildings, but I was quite wrong.
Rockefeller Center is a complex of 19 commercial buildings between 48th and 51st streets in NYC. it is located in the center of Midtown Manhattan, spanning the area between 5th Avenue and 6th Avenue. It is really a city within a city where you can eat, shop, entertain and so on. It's where famous Christmas tree is placed every year. By the way, this year's tree is hurricane Sandy surivor. Americans are very proud of this fact. I liked the tree, the ice rink near it, shining Prometheus and the Christmas spirit in the Center.
After the Tour we continued to The Top of the Rock observation deck to see NY from above.
