Crocodile Farm

by Olesia November 20 2012, 08:56 Kenya travel Nairobi

Last Saturday we had a great opportunity to go together with our friends to a crocodile farm. It is situated not far from Nairobi, one hour away (without traffic jams).

We were very excited, because here in Kenya if you go to animals, you will see them from the closest distance and maybe you will even be able to touch them. I prefered not to think how I would touch the crocodile, but I managed that. Later in this blog you will know how)

We were welcomed by a local guide who told us many interesting things about crocodiles.

1. they can swim 65km/hour.

2. they can have their nests on the trees.

3. sex of the future crocodile depends on the temperature of the soil where the eggs were laid.

4. they attack smaller crocodiles so on the farm the smaller are separated from the bigger ones.

But actually they seemed very peaceful for me. Crocodiles began to react on people and moved only when the guide poked them with his stick.
